DIY Backyard Design Series (3 of 8 Multiple Purpose)

Here we go – Third of Eight in our DIY Backyard Design Series. How to create the perfect backyard this summer and this part is all about multiple destinations.

This topic is a fun one to think about because you expand your living space getting full use out of your backyard. You may only have one spot in your backyard at this time. Everything done in a circle/square effect. Let’s rethink that by broadening out. I want you to think about multiple places for you, your family, and friends to be able to go outside to. Spots to cruise out and hang out in – that is what this video is all about.

I’m gonna show you some examples here on a destination covered structure. Do you want a covered structure? It’s question number one because if you do there are many different ways to create a covered area.

The video shows many examples of detached structures, freestanding structures, covered structure attached to the house, deck attached to the house or a shed style structure. There are many different structures.

Or do you want a water feature destination? A pool, a hot tub, waterfall feature. Or is a fire feature something you would like? Or both? Thinking about a destination fire feature whether it be a fire pit, or fire table, or a fireplace? Anything to extend your stay outside when night creeps in. Fire features are great as a destination.

Destinations for the kids are important. Play structure, trampolines, spas, sports courts.

Saunas are becoming extremely popular here in the US too. They’ve been popular overseas for a long time but having an outdoor sauna as the destination is really an amazing thing for you to think about especially for a place to relax. You could have a water feature with a little area to kind of meditate that as a destination you could have so many different little private retreats in your landscape – all part of multiple purposes destinations in your outdoor living space

Next in the series: Ease of movement and flow through the space. See you then! Hopefully, this video on multiple destinations in your perfect outdoor space has been helpful.
